Bharat Lullabies CD by Niall Fenix, Irish singer/song-writer and meditation practitioner
Featuring Niall Fenix, vocals and guitar; Hugh MacDonald, guitar; David Jones, percussion; Rupert Guenther, violin; Sam McNally, keyboards; Tony Buchanan, soprano sax and flute; Paul Pellegrino, accordion.
Bharat Lullabies is the second solo CD from Irish singer/songwriter, Niall Fenix, following his previous outing, Altered States (1999).
This CD explores the place of pilgrimage in modern secular life, featuring 12 songs, written and produced by Niall.
All the songs reflect Niall’s personal experience of travelling extensively through the rich cultural landscape of India during 2004-2005.
On his travels, Niall observed that the spiritual search for meaning remains active and strong. (‘Bharat’ is an ancient name for India.)
The CD is an intimate acoustic exploration, alive with Niall’s own personal narrative and featuring musical contributions from close friends and colleagues.
As a child growing up in Ireland, Niall was aware that the practice of going on an annual pilgrimage was widespread
and remained for a long time part of a community’s search for meaning.
“Sadly, for many of us these days the practice has all but died away, abandoned in the face of a wave of modern secular materialism.” Niall Fenix
